Greetings bloggers!
Can i say it for all of us, four day work weeks rock! They simply have to be the best weeks ever. Less time working more time playing, goofing around or just resting, I like the last one best! I think if i could i would be a professional relaxer ha! If there was a way to get paid for relaxing i would seek that job out.
I am also proud to say i have twittered for the first time! YES i am now tweeting online all the time. You can check my lame posts out at www.twitter.com/whereswingnut
I still don't fully understand what it is all about but LOVE messing around with it.
Did you guys watch the George Strait show this past night on CBS? I have a recap for you if you missed it. Chances are they will re-broadcast it on CMT in the coming weeks, I will keep you posted for sure.
GEORGE STRAIT was the guest of honor at the ACM Artist of the Decade All-Star Concert airing on CBS-TV last night. Introduced by TIM McGRAW and FAITH HILL at the top of the show, George sat on the side of the stage with his wife NORMA and son GEORGE JR. for the entire night. SUGARLAND delivered a fast tempo performance of "Adalida" to kick the night off.
TIM McGRAW paid tribute with "Marina Del Ray," and TAYLOR SWIFT donned a flower child look to sing her favorite Strait song, "Run." BLAKE SHELTON quoted George's movie Pure Country before singing "It Ain't Cool To Be Crazy About You" with MIRANDA LAMBERT. TOBY KEITH put his own spin on George's debut single "Unwound" -- a song Toby sang in honky tonks all over Texas and Oklahoma before getting his big break.
Oscar winner JAMIE FOXX was on hand to sing "You Look so Good In Love," while JACK INGRAM chose "All My Ex's Live in Texas." George's 1990s hit "Blue Clear Sky" was delivered by DIERKS BENTLEY after Dierks jokingly gave George a CD of a song he wanted him to cut. ALAN JACKSON sang "The Fireman" and BROOKS & DUNN took on "The Cowboy Rides Away."
LeANN RIMES put a feminine touch on George's "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind" -- a song REBA McENTIRE actually passed up in the mid-'80s before George recorded it. Reba had been uncomfortable singing about beer in the first line. LEE ANN WOMACK and JAMEY JOHNSON sang a duet on George's "Give it Away," and Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Taylor Swift were spotted singing along in the audience. Jamey then had George autograph the guitar he was playing.
JOHN RICH got to sing "Amarillo By Morning," which has special meaning for him since he's from Amarillo, Texas. John had "King George" spelled out in letters on the back of his guitar, and he also got George's autograph on it.
George is the fifth ACM Artist of the Decade. MARTY ROBBINS the first back in the '60s, which KEITH URBAN recognized with a performance of a medley of Marty's biggest hits including "El Paso" and "A White Sport Coat (And a Pink Carnation)."
Faith Hill took on "You Ain't Woman Enough" from 1970s ACM Artist of the Decade, LORETTA LYNN, while MONTGOMERY GENTRY honored the 1980s Artist of the Decade, ALABAMA, with a performance of "Mountain Music." MARTINA McBRIDE gave a stirring reading of "The Dance" by GARTH BROOKS, the ACM Artist of the Decade for the '90s.
Garth himself introduced George's show-closing performance of "Ocean Front Property." To cap things off, George invited all of the night's performers onstage for a closing performance of his recent top-five hit, "Troubadour." He told his fellow singers, quote, "I know how valuable your time is, and to have you out there tonight and to do such a wonderful job -- you sang unbelievable."
Very cool stuff for sure!
