are we there YET!?!........(insert whine here)
...I mean it's only two weeks until Christmas, isn't it funny how age gives us more patience. Or is it simply that we are busy and don't notice the passage of time or lack there of?
Just returned last week from a road trip to Oklahoma to see the family for Thanksgiving. Boyfriend Chad, Hannah and I embarked on a journey across Kansas (are we there yet? echoed from the back seat). Of course once in Oklahoma I detoured us through Stillwater, Oklahoma. Had to stop at Eskimo Joes for some essential Joe's clothes. For Turkey day we ate beef instead at the new home of my mom and her beau in McAlester...famous for the prison, called Big Mac. Mom has moved to the burbs in a fancy home with a bathroom designed by the palace decorator at Aladin's pad. Anyway, had a great time! Mom is getting her feet wet at the grandmuh thing since she only gets to see her "little" once a year. Hannah was well behaved ....after we wore her out on a two or three mile walk. It was sunny and gorgeous...Chad and I baked like lizards on the deck while Hannah chased old cat Tikki around the yard. She behaved cause we told her if she didn't, we'd leave her with the Delaware county gypsies. kidding ..ya know.
Friday we went to Tulsa to shop, check out Indian and Cowboy art at Gilcrease Musuem and then go DANCING!!!!!!
Saturday, it was a quick trip up Interstate 44 to see my brother and his gang in Grove. Good thing we got to Wal-Mart early...cause I think the town shut down to watch THE game...you know...bedlam.. You OKIES know this is THE big game that you wouldn't miss for anything...OSU and OU. Our family has the good sense to get behind the Cowboys even though they usually lose. And they did!
So once I gave Boyfriend Chad the total redneck tour on our redneck road trip we decided to leave early....ya know it had started to sleet...it's Oklahoma and just happens that way. We managed to drive almost straight through and made it to Chad's family's farm in Eastern Colorado.
You know I now understand that phrase...TWO thrills...one when you get there and one when you leave.
It's good, no it's great to go home and see family but it's good to return to YOUR home. After all, there's no place like home, right?
