Lucky me! I had yesterday off so after Anne got off work it was Date Day! We went out and got a little BBQ for lunch and then went and rented Beer for My Horses! You know that Toby Keith movie that all the critics hated so much. I can understand why they didn't like it as there wasn't much of a plot to the story, but I really don't think that Toby wanted one when they made this movie. All I can say is OMG! Rodney Carrington stole the show; that man had me laughing so hard that I nearly cried. I know Anne laughed so hard she hurt. I'm telling you the humor in this is infectious if you love Redneck and Blue Collar Comedy, the only thing that was missing in this movie are references to NASCAR! I would have liked to been on the set of this movie as they were making it, these guys must have had a lot of fun making it. Seriously I'm surprised they ever got through a take with a straight face!
I will not tell you much about this movie as far as the story goes but the pig hunting scene has to be one of the funniest things ever. Plus you have people like "Uncle" Ted Nugent basically getting to be himself and packing some heat and flaunting his 2nd Amendment Rights everywhere he goes. Willie Nelson as a Carney a role he was a natural in. Tom Skerritt as the local Sherriff with his entourage of "Yes Men" all wearing matching dusters and cowboy hats. Toby, Rodney, and Ted the three stooges of local law enforcement as his misfit deputies. Barry Corbin as the evil land baron, and Claire Forlani as the estranged girlfriend who just came back to town, and even an appearance by David Allen Coe.
I’m telling you this is one DVD worth adding to your collection! This isn’t the movie for the people who don’t appreciate the small town way of life, where the gossip travels faster than a speeding bullet. If you ever get in a fight with your girlfriend your afraid to make a commitment to, all I can say is move your lawnmower!
I second that Boyfriend Chad!
Oooooooooooooooooh yeeeeeeeeeees. Good Golly I pulled a muscle in my neck laughing so hard. You DO have to understand rednecks though....I mean really or you just won't appreciate the um, ART in it!
Anne Boswell
Good laugh and all......
LOL that's a pretty good description without giving away the plot..... Wait there really isn't much of one....hahahaha
I have watched "Beer for my horses..." twice now and found it very Mayberryish and a bit more hilarious..... LOL
It was pretty much filled with satire spoofing ALOT of Redneck stereotypes......... Even my 11 yo son watched it with me and enjoyed it.....
Course any show that Tobys in is worth watching for me........ quite the hunk ! LOL
