We did a "FAST"....from TV
It started as a form of punishment for my little. She pulled "tude" about brushing her hair and getting ready for school last week. I told her we wouldn't be watching TV this weekend. She was ok with it although she asked and tried. I was ok with it too...much to my surprise. I thought I would MISS some the mindless stuff I watch on the weekends. What I FOUND was MORE time. Time to get the house in order. Time to get the laundry done. Time to read. Time to enjoy the great and beautiful and soon fleeting Colorado Springs afternoons. Soon, it will be cold...really cold but we rode bikes, rollerbladed and just got time back in our day. TV certainly has its place but I found this weekend, it's sometimes more of a time suck. Thankful now we FASTED from the TV this weekend. We might even do it again next weekend.
What are your thoughts on this?
Fasting TV.....
Amazing how much time that gadget steals from us, isn't it! In the summer it's not much of an issue since we are busy and active outdoors and such... Wintertime is much harder since it is so easy to settle down on the couch and "veg"! LOL
But we as a family try to do this at least once a week to catch up with family time! Since we are such a busy family it helps us as dinner round the table is near impossible with all our varied schedules. We still have 4 kids at home 1 college, 2 high schoolers and a 6th grader.. Hubby and I don't normally get home from work until after 6/630 during the week so this time is very important.
At first the kids weren't to keen about it but in time they came to enjoy this "Family time" and request it! LOL We live in such a beautiful state that we should take advantage of it, definately BEFORE the Cold, Hard Winter is upon us!!!
Some things we do in the winter during our time is play board games, challenge each other on the video games (LOL I'm getting pretty good at Guitar Hero!) or just hang out together and really TALK...... Something that seems to be lacking in this mixed up world....
So YEAH for you ANNE, I applaud you!
Thanks for listening.....
Me, D! :)
